blog /blɒɡ/ noun, verb

Origin truncation of weblog

noun. a website containing a writer's, or group of writers' opinions, experiences, observations, expertise, et cetera, and often having images and links to other websites.e.g. You can read about my cycling tours on this blog.

noun. a single entry or post on such a websitee.g. She regularly contributes a blog to the magazine's website.

verb. (without obj.) to maintain or add new entries to a blog. blogged, blogginge.g. I've blogged about this trip, go read my article at this link...

verb. (with obj.) to express or write about on a blog. blogged, blogginge.g. She's been blogging her illness for almost a year.

crepuscular /krɪˈpʌskjʊlə/ adjective

Origin From the Latin crepusculum for twilight.

adjective. occurring or active during twilighte.g. We spotted a kangaroo on the side of the road during the crepuscular hours of the morning.

grey nomad /ɡreɪ ˈnəʊmæd/ noun

Origin Coined by documentary filmmakers Catherine Marciniak and Steve Westh for the documentary Grey Nomads screened on the Australian public broadcaster ABC on September 23rd 1997.

noun. A retired person who travels independently and for an extended period within their own country, particularly in a caravan or motor home.e.g. The coastal caravan park was packed with grey nomads escaping the cold southern winter for the warmer weather up north.

macropod /ˈmækrəˌpɑd/ noun, adjective

Origin From Greek roots meaning "large foot."

noun. a marsupial of the Macropodidae family, which includes kangaroos, quokkas, wallabies, and several other species.e.g. Wallabies are primarily found in Australia and nearby islands, and are members of the macropod family of marsupials, along with kangaroos.

adjective. relating to or characteristic of marsupials of the Macropodidae family.

scroggin /ˈskɹɒɡɪn/ noun

Origin unknown

noun. A prepared mixture of dried fruit and nuts to eat as a snack while bushwalking.e.g. Don't eat all the scroggin too early in the hike!
